Lenten Vigil 2004

A Quiet Time

A quiet time is all I need, A quiet time of prayer;
A quiet time of meditation, He will meet me there.
The lonely hours of longing, trusting, Faith and hope to know;
Just a time of simple searching, Wanting just to grow.

Chorus:
There is enough of God in nature, His pow'r is clearly shown.
A man has no excuse for wandering, God and heav'n are known, God and heav'n are known.

In my mind I launch a voyage, Destiny unknown;
Discovery and exploration, By the Spirit shown.
On Mount Sinai I am climbing, Then in a desert place;
The wind of God is inspiration, Teaching love and grace.
(Chorus)

A quiet time is all I need, A quiet time of prayer;
A quiet time alone with Jesus, He will meet me there.

Christ Is Praying All Alone

Come and walk into a garden place, In the moonlight there a form you'll trace,
Who impending death prepares to face, Christ is praying all alone.
See the Saviour bowed on bended knee, See the suff'ring tears and agony,
As He asks to change His destiny, Christ is praying all alone.

"O my Father, let it be. That this cup be passed from me
O my Father, hear thy son, Not my will, but Thine be done."

Listen as He asks His friends to share, In that moment, in that time of prayer,
When He needed them they were not there, Christ is praying all alone.
See the blood like sweat-drops on His brow, See the shroud of death surround Him now,
While His friends such loneliness allow, Christ is praying all alone.
(Chorus)

When the midnight hours come my way, Trading darkness for the light of day,
Causing me to stumble and to say "Why have you allowed this, Lord?"
May I see that it was best for me, Though the reasons oft I cannot see,
Like the Lord in dark Gethsemane, Help me pray, "Thy will be done."
(Chorus)

His Love Alone

His love touched the world with a power, a power both gentle and strong.
Like a river it flowed to the ones who believed Him, Like the wind through the trees, like the hope in a song.

Chorus:
And His love is the power that heals us, And brings us a peace that this world's never known;
For this love is the power of Jesus that frees us to live as His own
By the power of His love alone.

And He still reaches out to His children, to the weak and the lost and the lame;
To all who are willing to open their hearts, to trust in His grace, to call on His name!
(Chorus)

Gentle Jesus meek and mild, dearest Friend we've known;
Reaching out to ev'ry child with His love alone
(____Oo-------------------------Ah-------)
With His love alone!
And His love is the power that heals us, And brings us a peace that this world's never known;
For this love is the power of Jesus that frees us to live as His own
By the power of His love alone. The power of His love alone.

Everything That Love Can Give

There upon the altar of His cross
The Lord has set His Holy Sacrifice for us.
A Willing Lamb with thorns upon His brow,
His Heart of Love still calls you even now.

High upon the altar of His cross,
The Living Bread is freely broken there for us.
The Living Wine flows from the broken bough,
His Heart of Love still calls you even now.

Chorus:
So remember every moment that you live.
He has given everything that love can give.
Remember every moment that you live.
He's given everything that love can give.

Repeat chorus
Ending:
He's given everything (Guys:everything)
Everything (everything)
Everything that love can give!

The Prodigal Son

Father I have sinned, help me find my way,
Remember not my sins, just let me hear you say.

Chorus:
I forgive you, I love you, you are mine, take my hand.
Go in peace, sin now more, Beloved one.

Father I have turned, my back and walked away.
Depended on my strength, and lived life my own way.

Father I have closed, my heart to those in need.
Thought only of myself, a victim of my greed.

Father I have loved, if love's the word to use.
I've played so many games, they've left me so confused.

Father I've returned, I'm home with you to stay.
Standing by your door, knowing that you'll say.

He Will Carry You

There is no problem too big, God cannot solve it.
There is no mountain too tall, He cannot move it.
There is no storm too dark, God cannot calm it.
There is no sorrow too deep, He cannot soothe it.

If He carried the weight of the world upon His shoulders,
I know my brother that He will carry you.
If He carried the weight of the world upon His shoulders,
I know my sister that He will carry you.

He said, 'Come unto me all who are weary, and I will give you rest."

(Modulation) repeat chorus
Guys: He will carry...
Girls: I know my brother that He...
All: ...will carry you

Glorious Love

From Bethlehem to Calvary, He walked among us willingly,
Knowing His heav'nly place, choosing to give us grace.
And what sent Him there to die, to be Heaven's sacrifice?
What could compel Him to lay down His life?

Glorious love, love of the Father;
Glorious love, shown by the Saviour.
There on the cross, reaching for us,
Glory, glorious love!

Born a child and yet a King, born to be an offering.
Born in a humble stall, born to be Lord of all.
And what made Him walk that road, to carry our sinful load?
What was the reason He bore it alone?

Glorious love, love of the Father;
Glorious love, shown by the Saviour.
There on the cross, reaching for us,
Glory, glorious love!

Love in a manger born, love with a crown of thorns,
Love resurrected on Easter morn!

Glorious love, love beyond measure.
Glorious love, worth Heaven's treasure.
There on the cross, dying for us!
Glory! (x3)
Glorious love! (x2)
