this post is to commemorate my first year anniversary in g2 lol. Sometimes i wonder what my life would be like without something to do every saturday evening, without at least a place in church to call my own. I doubt i'm a sentimental person by nature, but it seems this date warrants a special trip down memory lane to feed the nostalgia.

July 2004
Exactly 1 year ago, i was forced to go down for practice on saturday afternoon with Justin and Sam as part of the confirmation class service project, a bloody waste of time as far as i was concerned back then. My opinion didnt change much until sometime later, but it was enough i guessed. I skipped my 1st night practice to go for a dinner elsewhere, something that i remembered being very relieved at. The next week i was invited for my first g2 party, Dione's 16th birthday. Can still remember drinking Jon Chia's mystery drinks... haha... quote my dear godpa on our 1st day at choir :
"Prior to choir prac, I went to receive the 3 con3s who were gonna be with the choir for 2 months - Justin, Marcus & Samantha. Amidst the initial uneasiness, I spoke to them for awhile and then brought them into the choir room...it was as if i was presenting to them some surprise gift. I was excited about showing them the choir that's been an integral part of the last 10 yrs of my life; yet I was fearful that they'd be bored to death or dread coming."

August 2004
My 1st g2 prayer meet, which later sparked off my entry into leadersheep some time later. Might have been that month, though im not entirely sure. I missed out on National Day celebrations with the choir because of certain "more important" other commitments, though that seems to escape me at the moment...

September 2004
Haha.. My birthday passed rather uneventfully due to lack of communication with the choir. The first few weeks of the month also marked the end of the service project, where the 3 of us made the decision to remain with the choir. Can remember planning a ppt for the recruitment of confirmants at Sam's place. Of course the highlight of the month was Mr. Darren Leong's birthday on the 23rd at Fish n Co, where i was also to meet one of my best friends in the choir and my unofficial god-uncle, Darryl.

October 2004
This month of course, was the month that the efforts of our recruitments pulled through, as many confirmants did indeed come down for the "1 day with g2". Haha ill try to list as many as possible. Thanks to Brenda, Clara, Cherie, Rhonda, Amanda, Deborah, Denise, Joanna C, Stacy, Kenneth, Jude, Zach, Gerald for responding to our efforts. Since Darren's blog did mention "10 or so" people i probably wouldve missed out a few, so sorry if i have. There was of course, one other ExTra person who came in thru "backdooring", but that's kinda redundant i think...

November 2004
G2's 21st anniversary, where i 1st fell in love with the song "Make a Joyful Noise" when performed by Rissa. Also my 1st planned leadersheep prayer meet, though i cant really remember what i did haha... Not much else i can remember...

December 2004
Ding Dong Merrily on High!! Ahh Christmas. Singing for midnight mass, late night, or rather early morning party at Jon Chia's place and carolling on boxing day. Also had g2 day of retreat, and of course the end of year party at Edmonds erm... Mansion. Or castle. Dream house. You get the idea...

January 2005
Start of the new year!! First meeting of the easter comm, which would later transpire into something on the scale im sure none of us imagined during that first meeting. Not much else tho...

Febuary 2005
Leadersheep year-long planning meeting, for all the prayer meets of the year. Beginning of the Prayer Buddy project in the choir, my first full-scale project with in Leadersheep with Duane and Joanna, though it probably didn't work out as well as expected, still i enjoyed it alot, at the same time learning about things within the choir which i would never have found out.

March 2005
Ahh... The screwy month. Haha... Of course the nonsense in the weeks after Con camp, which doesn't exactly require much detail here... Haha... Also the month where i was given the song "Make a Joyful Noise" for easter concert.

April 2005
Confirmation!! Probably one of the worst choices of my life, choosing Darren Leong to be my godfather, who seems to be intent on getting himself fired now on a weekly basis... Not much else that i can remember once again...

May 2005
ALIVE!!!! 5 months of hard work culminated into a spectacular night of music. Sharings, soloists, dancers and of course choral performances made everything i gave up worthwhile. Even pulled off my favourite song without any (noticeable) mistakes. Cheers to the easter comm, Brenda, Stacy, Joanna C, Dom, Greg, Darrens, Nick, Sandrine, Mel, Anthony, Nicole, Cheryl and Jon Lim. Had a wonderful time working with you guys.

Fun day amazing race which was definitely one to remember. Thanks once again Marilyn for finding my glasses... Haha...

So that's more or less it for my year in G2. If i've missed out anything or anyone major, blame my sleepy head at this time. Thanks to all of you for being my 2nd family.
