4 step process to SERVICE
What we have learnt from the passages:
1) Answering God's Call
(Exo 3:9-15) - God can call ANYONE to serve. Even the most unexpected
person at the most unexpected time.
2) Freedom to serve
(Gal 5:13-15) - We are free to choose and we should choose
with the Spirit and not with our physical desires. Serve because you want
to and not because you will get something in return. "Let love make
you serve one another"
3) Humbling oneself to serve
(John 13:2-8) - Noone is too good to serve. "If I do not
wash your feet," Jesus answered, "you will no longer be my disciple"
4) Go and Tell - God sent
His Holy Spirit on us so that we will go out and preach the Good News.
"Your duty is to proclaim the Good News of Kingdom of God"
(Luke 9:60) Ever wondered why the last hymn for mass is called the
' Recessional hymn' and not the closing hymn? It is because the end of
mass is jus a recess, a break... it is not the end of our service. We
receive Christ during mass so as we leave church we are sent to bring
Christ to others. that is why the priests always ends mass by saying,
"Go in the peace and love to serve the Lord".
What we have learnt from MAC:
Music - Composing is not
as difficult as we think it is.
Animators - Our voices are
instruments
Conductors - Learnt how
to read time signatures and how to keep rhythm
How the Spirit gels GII (by Jeremy Oh):
The thing about the spirit is that we need it to keep us going and we
can also help the spirit burn inside of our hearts. Both the choir and
the spirit are dependent on each other.
For instance for the music part of Genesis
II, without the spirit we are not able fill up the songs that we sing
with the passion that comes with the spirit. We would be like a hollow
body, with its bones and without the flesh that keeps the body alive,
much in the same way the spirit does.
With animation, words are powerful and
can move people. The spirit can empower the speaker who can transfer the
message to the people in the congregation. The congregation needs to be
able to take home the message from God.
For the conductors with the spirit they
are able to give the music shape. Which brings all the voices together
and sing our praises to God, to be the choir of angels as we are supposed
to help the congregation sing out instead of just being the choir. We
are facilitators who help the congregation sing out the hymns.
Thus we the spiritual comm try and help
to bring GII together too because we are the vessel which the spirit can
be transported to the congregation. MAC is just too small to carry the
spirit forth so the whole choir is important to the spirit so as let the
spirit burn in them.
Amen!!
